CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. -- Authorities in Carroll County say an inmate who escaped on Monday has been recaptured.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, 18-year-old Casey Delerenzo Summerville was out with deputies to recover items he had allegedly stolen when he escaped at around 4:30 p.m.
Monday evening, Georgia State Patrol and Carroll County Sheriff's deputies searched for him in on the border of Heard County. The sheriff's office received several tips Tuesday, saying Summerville was spotted in the Roopville area and was trying to hitch a ride. An off-duty deputy saw Summerville at a store, but the teen managed to escape and run into the nearby woods.
By Wednesday night, authorities said Summerville had been taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Summerville had been arrested April 29 on arson and theft by taking charges.
