CARROLLTON, Ga. -- A grand jury has indicted a former Georgia State Patrol Trooper in connection with a crash that killed two teenagers.
On Sept, 26, 2015, the patrol car driven by then-Trooper Anthony J. Scott collided with another occupied by four teens.
Investigators said that Dillon Wall was attempting a left turn at the intersection of US 27 and Holly Springs road at 11:30 p.m. when Scott struck them.
South Paulding high school students Kylie Lindsay and Isabella Chinchilla were killed in the crash. Wall and Benjamin Finken were badly injured.
Scott was fired after investigators determined that he had been speeding at the time of the crash even though he was not on a call and didn't have his blue lights or siren on.
Families of the teens were outraged earlier in the year when a grand jury didn't indict Scott for vehicular homicide or violating his oath of office. That grand jury found that Wall was partially at fault for turning in front of the trooper's patrol car.
District Attorney Pete Skandalakis brought the case back before a grand jury Tuesday. This time, jurors indicted Scott on reckless driving and speeding charges. The reckless driving could land him in jail for a year with a $1,000 fine.
An arrest warrant will now be drafted for a judge to sign. Scott will then turn himself in and post a bond.
Scott is currently a city councilmember in the city of Buchanan in Haralson County. He did not respond to a request for comment on Tuesday.
