Experienced Georgia jumper dies in skydiving accident

Police say the woman who died in a skydiving accident has been identified as 33-year-old Jessica Edgeington.

DELAND, Fla. -- Police in Deland, Fla., tell 11Alive News the woman who died in a skydiving accident has been identified as 33-year-old Jessica Edgeington from Villa Rica.

Public Information Officer Bruce Moreland said she died while parachuting with Skydive DeLand Wednesday afternoon. Her parachute collided with another one in mid-air. Police did not have an update on the second skydiver's condition.

11Alive's NBC partners out of Orlando, WESH, obtained the first 911 call from an employee. "We have a jumper down at the moment," the caller said.

Edgeington is listed as a professional skydiver on PD Factory Team's website. She lists her occupation as PD Factory Pilot, Flight-1 Instructor, Skydive Photographer and Videographer. She had completed more than 6,500 skydives since her first jump 15 years ago.

Her public Facebook page was filled with condolences and memories. She was called a "wonderful soul," "always smiling," and wishes of "fly free" appeared often.
