30 residents displaced following fire at a Marietta extended hotel: Fire officials

When Marietta Fire arrived, crews reported heavy fire from the third floor on the rear side of the hotel.

MARIETTA, Ga. — Crews are still working to put out a fire at a hotel on Saturday morning, according to Marietta Fire Department. 

Calls came in around 10:30 a.m. stating that smoke and flames were coming from the Metro Extended Stay Hotel off Freys Gin Road. When Marietta Fire arrived, crews reported heavy fire from the third floor on the rear side of the hotel. 

As of 1 p.m., fire officials said they were still working to put out the hot spots but had contained the fire to just the third floor and attack. 

Marietta Fire said the fire was under control within 20 minutes of getting to the hotel. No injuries were reported, but 30 people were displaced. The fire department said the Red Cross was notified and is on the way to help. 

Fire officials reported heavy fire damage to five hotel rooms, and an additional 30 to 40 rooms had water damage. 

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Marietta Fire also stated that the Cobb County Fire Department also responded to the fire.
