1 rushed to hospital with serious injuries after FedEx truck plows into Gwinnett home: Officials

Here is what we know.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A FedEx delivery truck crashed into a home in Gwinnett County on Tuesday afternoon, according to the fire department.

Gwinnett County Fire said firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle into a home on the 5700 block of Tattersall Terrace NE. The caller told 911 that a delivery truck had run into a house, and the driver was lying on the ground.

When firefighters arrived shortly after 4 p.m., they found a person on the ground, and a vehicle had crashed into the residence, resulting in the front of the house being heavily damaged, according to a release. A heavy-duty wrecker had to be used to remove the vehicle from the home.

One person was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Gwinnett County Fire Department said it appears the driver of the FedEx truck was the one taken to the hospital.

In a statement to 11Alive, FedEx said it is cooperating with law enforcement.

"We extend our deepest concerns to those involved in this accident," a FedEx spokesperson said. "Safety is our highest priority, and we are cooperating fully with law enforcement."

There were no other reports of injuries at the scene and the cause is currently unknown, the fire department said.
