Woman missing after 2 bodies found inside burned home

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities in Monroe County are trying to find clues in a house fire where two people were found dead and a third person has now been reported as missing.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, crews were called to a house fire on Old Zebulon Road around 3:30 Thursday morning.

The home was fully engulfed when they arrived. Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.

It was then that they found two bodies inside of the home. Both people have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab to be positively identified. 

The sheriff's office said they were also were unable to locate Tasha Vandiver, a resident and owner of the home. 

"Tasha has been entered as missing and we are unsure at this time if she is in any danger," a news release reads.

Deputies said the U.S. Marshals are also assisting in trying to locate Vandiver, whose car was found by authorities. 

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the Monroe County Emergency Services and the State Fire Marshal are investigating the cause of the fire at this time.
