A woman's body was found in the wake of a residential house fire in Cobb County on Friday.
The fire broke out at a home on Laurel Springs Drive.
A passerby reported the fire around 10 am. Cobb fire officials said they faced heavy smoke on arrival of the two-story home.
“Because of floor damage our crews fought most of the fire defensively, meaning from the outside of the structure,” according to Cobb Fire Chief Dennell Boyd. "There was so much damage we had to go to what you call defensive mode. "Obviously we don't want to endanger any of our firefighters or get hurt if its a collapsed floor."

After the fire was extinguished, firefighters found the woman's body in the basement. The victim has not been identified.
Fire officials said the home was very cluttered.
"There was a large amount of items in the home which made it more difficult for our firefighters to fight the fire," said Boyd, "and if the victim were to try to get out, it would have been much more difficult for them."
