A house in Snellville went up in flames overnight.
Gwinnett County firefighters were sent to the corner of East Main Street SW and Scenic Highway SW just after midnight to battle the fire.
"The home is currently a part of a family estate that is being cared for by an executive," said Justin Wilson of Gwinnett Fire.
No one was home during the fire, he said.
Crews had to shut down the road nearby for a while as they worked to get the fire under control.
"We had heavy fire involvement throughout the entire front of the structure and through the roof on our arrival," he said.
Lanes are now back open. Wilson also wanted to remind families to check their home as we approach the winter season.
"Gwinnett Fire would like to remind everyone as we go through the winter months and the colder season, make sure you check your homes and have working smoke alarms and escape plan in case of a fire."
He also suggested having furnaces and fireplaces inspected.
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused this fire.
