Firefighters put out flames at vacant homeless camp in DeKalb woods fire

Firefighters said it happened not far from the 400 block of Jaywood Drive at an old vacant homeless camp.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A fire broke out Monday afternoon in a wooded area in DeKalb County, officials said. 

Firefighters said it happened not far from the 400 block of Jaywood Drive at an old vacant homeless camp. 11Alive SkyTracker flew over the scene. Smoke filled the air as fire crews worked nearby. 

The area that caught fire was less than an acre. No structures were damaged.
The fire is under control at this time, firefighters said.
