Fire at DeKalb County Kroger started outside, spreads to roof

When firefighters arrived, they found smoke on the backside of the building.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. —  A fire early Friday morning damaged the roof of a Kroger in DeKalb County.

According to the DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department, crews responded just after 3 a.m. to reports of a fire at the Kroger located at 2385 Wesley Chapel Road in Decatur. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke on the backside of the building.

Authorities said the fire started outside in a trash area before spreading to the roof. The damage was confined to the exterior of the building and roofing area. 

A few employees were inside the store when the fire broke out, but no one was hurt, officials said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
