FOREST PARK, Ga. — Forest Park is increasing its minimum wage to $23.46 per hour for all full-time city employees.
The city council approved the measure in an effort to attract top-tier talent and address the rising cost of living. The new wage rate is more than three times higher than Georgia’s state minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.

“Our employees are the backbone of our community, and it is imperative that we compensate them in a way that allows them to thrive, not just survive,” said City Manager Ricky L. Clark, Jr. “This decision to increase the minimum wage is a bold step toward economic empowerment, and I am proud to work with a Mayor and City Council that are deeply committed to investing in our people and our city’s future.”
The new minimum wage is scheduled to be implemented before Jan. 1, 2025, giving departments time to adjust budgets accordingly, according to a release. Forest Park joins a growing movement among cities across the country prioritizing living wages and equitable compensation.
