ATLANTA — Centennial Olympic Park's iconic Fountain of Rings is temporarily closing for a multi-million dollar facelift.
The fountain will close on Monday, August 26 and reopen in late December 2024, according to the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) website.
In May, the GWCCA announced a $2.5 million modernization of the historic fountain through a grant from the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation, marking the first major upgrade since 2007.
The upgrade will focus on enhancing operational reliability and guest experience with updated technology, controls, water valves, and lighting. It also repairs the fog system and enables remote system access.
"The Fountain of Rings is the centerpiece of Centennial Olympic Park and one of the most photographed landmarks in Georgia," said Frank Poe, executive director of GWCCA. "We extend our deepest gratitude to the Woodruff Foundation for their generous support and longstanding commitment to Centennial Olympic Park. These enhancements will not only preserve an iconic symbol of Atlanta’s Olympic heritage but also elevate the visitor experience, ensuring the Fountain of Rings remains a cherished attraction for years to come."
