4 dead, 5 injured after multi-vehicle crash on I-75 in Bartow County

The crash happened on I-75 southbound before Red Top Mountain Road, according to GDOT.

BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — Four people are dead, and five others are injured after a multi-vehicle crash on I-75 in Bartow County on Sunday evening, according to authorities. 

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, the crash occurred on I-75 southbound before Red Top Mountain Road around 6 p.m. 

Georgia State Patrol said a van with five people inside was traveling northbound when the driver lost control and crossed into the southbound lanes, hitting two other vehicles.

Three people died inside the van, including a 15-year-old boy. The driver of one of the other vehicles involved also died.

Paramedics took two other van passengers, both young people, to the hospital. Three other people involved in the crash were also injured. We are working to learn the extent of their injuries. 

Following the incident, GDOT said that all southbound lanes in the area were blocked. As of 11 p.m., lanes had reopened.
