ATLANTA — A passenger onboard a flight to Atlanta reported that they had received an anonymous AirDrop message claiming that there was an explosive device on the Frontier Airlines plane Thursday evening, a spokesperson from the airline said.
Officials said it happened on Frontier Airlines Flight 1571 from Baltimore to Atlanta. The flight landed safely around 9:15 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
While mid-flight, the passenger said they had received the notification and reported it to a flight attendant.
"Per standard protocol, the flight crew notified appropriate authorities and has safely landed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Emergency personnel are on scene," Frontier Airlines said in a statement.
Officials said so far, the crew onboard has not seen any evidence of an explosive device. A search of the plane is being conducted, the airline spokesperson said.
Passengers were taken off the plane and were driven to the terminal in a bus, an official with Frontier Airlines said.
The FAA said it will be conducting an investigation.
