ATLANTA — Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis could potentially add another title to her name after Time Magazine unveiled their shortlist for its 2023 Person of the Year.
If awarded the title, the Fulton County prosecutor and eight others could be on the cover this year.
Willis and the other prosecutors made history with their work for indicting former president Donald Trump -- the first time a former U.S. president has faced prosecution.
Willis' office was behind the historic August indictment of former President Trump and 18 others for their alleged role in an elaborate plan to interfere with the Georgia 2020 election. To date, four people have taken plea deals in the case. Trump himself faced 13 charges in Fulton County, where he has pleaded not guilty in the case.
The former president faced RICO charges (racketeering influenced and corrupt organizations) in Georgia, among a total of more than 90 felony charges in other cases around the country, including Florida, New York and Washington D.C.
Other candidates for Person of the Year include Taylor Swift, Jerome Powell -- the Chair of the Federal Reserve -- and the Hollywood SAG-AFTRA strikers.
According to a Time Magazine report, editors select groups, individuals and concepts that had the "most influence" this past year.
Last year, Ukrainian President Volodymry Zelensky and the "Spirit of Ukraine" won the title.
Both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, Martin Luther King Jr. and multiple other have won the title in the past.
Time Magazine will choose the person or group who will hold this year's title on Wednesday.
