ATLANTA — An inmate discovered unresponsive at the Fulton County Jail has died, according to the sheriff's office.
Authorities said 36-year-old Michael Anthony Holland was discovered during a security round by a detention officer on Wednesday morning.
Staff at the jail performed CPR on Holland, according to a release. He was later taken to Grady Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The sheriff's office said Holland was arrested last May by East Point Police for:
- Aggravated Assault Against Law Enforcement Officer When Engaged on Official Duty
- Three counts of Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers by Use of Threats or Violence
Authorities said he was being held at the Rice Street Jail on a $55,000 bond.
Atlanta Police will conduct a death investigation.
