Funeral arrangements are set for the DeKalb officer who was killed in the line of duty last week. Officer Edgar Isidro Flores died Thursday, December 13, a few days before his 25th birthday.
Whitfield Funeral Home & Crematory posted details on its website about the services.
A visitation will be held Sunday, December 16, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Monday, December 17, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Those visitations will take place at Whitfield Funeral Home's North Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, which is located at 2443 Mt. Vernon Road in Dunwoody.
Another funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, December 19, at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, which is located 6439 Spout Springs Road in Flowery Branch. Interment will be held on Wednesday, December 19, in Yonah Memorial Gardens after the funeral.
Flores made his final trip back home on Saturday. A line of police cars escorted his body to the Whitfield Funeral Home in Baldwin. People lined Highway 365 in Habersham County to pay their respects.
It was around 5 p.m. Thursday when Flores conducted a traffic stop on Candler Road. According to police, the driver took off on foot and the officer followed him into a parking lot of a Piggly Wiggly grocery store.
DeKalb Police Chief James Conroy said during the foot pursuit, the suspect allegedly shot Flores who was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
More officers responded to the Candler-McAfee neighborhood to look for the suspect. A K9 officer was shot and taken to the hospital. After the suspect allegedly shot the K9, Conroy said the officers then shot the suspect several times. He was taken the hospital where he died.
K9 Indi was released from the hospital Saturday.
Flores was born December 17, 1993, in Nogales, Sonora in Mexico. He leaves behind a fiancé , his mother, father, and a brother.
