GA Dept of Corrections captures escaped Jackson County inmate

A statewide manhunt is canceled after an inmate who escaped from Jackson County Prison was captured.

Marcus Mahaffey worked outside grounds detail at the county fleet maintenance shop. He was last seen getting into a silver Nissan sedan.

ALTANTA - A statewide manhunt is canceled after an inmate who escaped from Jackson County Prison was captured.

Marcus Mahaffey worked outside grounds detail at the county fleet maintenance shop. He was last seen getting into a silver Nissan sedan on August 30. He was wearing a state issued orange shirt and white pants with blue stripe. Mahaffey is 6-feet tall and weighs approximately 175 pounds.

Jackson County Sheriff's Office posted an update that Mahaffey was captured without incident in Jefferson, GA., after leads were developed by the Georgia Department of Corrections Apprehension Unit and Jackson County Sheriffs Department.
