GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A high school baseball community is sending thoughts and prayers to a student who Gainesville school officials said was "critically injured" this week.
A spokesperson for Gainesville City Schools said a student at Gainesville High was hurt during a baseball accident on campus Monday afternoon.
The student, according to the spokesperson, is stable at this time.
"The entire Gainesville community is devastated by the news. School administrators, the team and coaches are in contact with the family," the statement said.
Details about how the accident happened were not released.
The news about the injured student led to others in the baseball community sending well wishes for a speedy recovery on social media.
