ATLANTA — Crews worked to repair a gas leak on Peachtree Road in Buckhead Thursday afternoon. The leak caused traffic delays, as all lanes were shut down. As of Thursday evening, the repairs were finished.
Atlanta Fire Rescue said that it responded right before 2:50 p.m. to a report of a construction crew striking a natural gas line at the 2800 block of Peachtree Road NW.
According to Atlanta Gas Light, a contractor unrelated to the company damaged the gas line in the area. Atlanta Gas Light crews worked with first responders to make repairs safely and turned off the natural gas line.
Atlanta Gas Light encourages customers to contact 811 to have underground utility lines marked before any digging project.
A GDOT camera shows congested traffic in the area due to the repairs and lanes closed.
