CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Two Georgia Bureau of Investigation employees have resigned after taking an inappropriate photo of a victim during an official medical examination.
An internal investigation was immediately launched, the GBI said. As a result, one employee resigned Dec. 18. The second employee is expected to resign Dec. 21.
A spokesperson for the GBI said the photo was taken during a medical examination for Robert Page. Page's wife of 49 years reported him missing Nov. 8. The 77-year-old was found dismembered in the home next door the following day.
Clayton County Police said the suspect, 25-year-old Christian Ponce Martinez, was caught on surveillance video outside the Page home the night he disappeared. Investigators said Martinez had been renting a room at the home next door for about three months, after relocating from Mexico.
Police followed a trail of blood from Page's home to the backyard next door, where they found parts of the 77-year-old man's dismembered body under a tarp. Some parts of Page were found in a cooler inside the home, as well.
They found Martinez hiding underneath a couch in the same home. So far, detectives have not established a motive but believe the two men had some sort of argument at Page's home.
The investigation is ongoing and Clayton County police are continuing to look into Martinez' background.
