Georgia boy raises nearly $80,000 for mom's funeral with hot dog stand, online fundraiser

Kayden lost his mother earlier this month, and his family couldn't afford her funeral expenses.

An 11-year-old boy from Floyd County, Georgia, is bringing his community together during the toughest time of his life.

Kayden lost his mother earlier this month, and his family couldn't afford her funeral expenses. Determined to give her a respectful burial, Kayden set up a hot dog stand by the side of the road, holding a sign that read, "Please help me bury my Mama."

The community's response was overwhelming. Residents donated a burial plot, flooded the funeral home with contributions, and an online fundraiser surpassed its goal within days, raising nearly $80,000 to support the child.

The generosity extended beyond funeral costs. With the additional funds, Kayden’s aunt could take him back-to-school shopping for the first time, allowing him to pick out exactly what he wanted.

However, Kayden still has to lay his mother to rest before school starts. Garrett Howell, a resident touched by Kayden's story, reached out to his aunt and took him shopping for a suit for the funeral.

When Kayden saw the price tag, he hesitated, saying, "We could help so many more people with this money." But Garrett insisted, wanting to honor Kayden's mom.

As Kayden prepares to face the difficult task of burying his mother, he does so with the unwavering support of his community. This young boy has shown incredible strength and has brought together people who want to ensure he never feels alone.
