ATLANTA – All four of Zoo Atlanta’s giant pandas have birthdays in the late summer and local families are invited to help celebrate.

Adult female panda Lun Lun turned 21 on Aug. 25 and male panda Yang Yang turns 21 on Sept. 9.

Their twins, Ya Lun and Xi Lun, turn 2 years old on Sept. 3 and will celebrate with a party open to the public on Friday, Aug. 31.

The twin giant pandas are expected to enjoy their favorite foods and other treats at two times on Friday, at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Arthur M. Black Family Foundation Giant Panda Conservation Center.

Zoo Atlanta is giving panda fans the chance to watch the birthday celebrations from home on PandaCam, a live stream hosted by Animal Planet.

From Sept. 3 through 7, fans can vote on what treats to give the pandas through the Zoo Atlanta Facebook page – including puzzles, food and special activities, on zooatlanta.org.

Zoo Atlanta is also selling special T-shirts supporting the giant pandas through Sept. 14. All profits benefit Zoo Atlanta.

Less than 1,900 giant pandas are still believed to be in the wild, in China’s Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, according to Zoo Atlanta.
