GRIFFIN, Ga. -- Two employees of a Spalding County elementary school are on leave after reportedly grabbing two students who were serving after school detention.
Atkinson Elementary School principal Aveory Allen and teacher Derek Wilder both agreed to the administrative leave, according to a Griffin-Spalding County School System spokesperson.
The two students' parents filed complaints with district officials, saying Allen and Wilder grabbed the boys by their necks. The school district notified Griffin Police.
Warrants for felony child cruelty and misdemeanor battery were issued for Allen and Wilder.
Atkinson Elementary assistant principal Tiffany Campbell will guide the school while Allen is on leave.
