STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — A teacher who was arrested and charged with sending a student a Snapchat message asking him to "send nudes" pleaded not guilty during a Wednesday bond and arraignment hearing.
Ryan Harvey, 24, was indicted in front of a Grand Jury on Friday, March 9 on one count of sexual assault of a student, one count of aggravated child molestation, two counts of sexual battery against a child under the age of 16 and three counts of electronically furnishing obscene material to a minor.
During court proceedings, a judge set Harvey's bond at $100,000, to be posted in full. Conditions of his bond also include no Internet use, no smart phone use, no contact with witnesses and no contact with the victim or his family. Harvey must also surrender his passport and cannot drive by himself. He will also be subject to all the same conditions as a convicted sex offender.
Harvey was an orchestra teacher at Woodland High School and the inappropriate interaction spanned over a span of months. Harvey was put on administrative leave and then resigned from his position with the school system.
The student was 15 years old at the time of the incident.
No trial date for Harvey has been set yet.
