BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — A new tip line has been set up for people calling with information about about the dismembered body that was found in a landfill on August 13.
The GBI autopsy revealed the person found at the landfill off Allatoona Dam Road was a white woman between the ages of 18 and 35 who had brown or red hair, 5'2 to 5'6 in height, approximately 150 pounds and several distinctive tattoos.
After a sketch of her face and a picture of one of her tattoos was released to news media, the agency said they received hundreds of tips and messages. They're now encouraging people to call this direct line (770) 387-5100.
"The number will be answered usually by criminal investigations personnel, if not a voicemail can be left with information. Persons calling do not have to give their own contact information, but are encouraged to do so," Sergeant Jonathan Rogers said.
They are also asking anyone who visited the compactor facility at 15 Cedar Creek Road on Saturday August 11 between 3PM and 6PM to call the tip line.
"We want to be able to gather as much information as possible from the citizens who were in the area around the time that the female was placed in the compactor container," Rogers said.
They also released a picture of another tattoo. This one is located on her right wrist area and Bartow County Sheriff's Office said it is believed to be the symbol for bravery in Japanese.
On August 13, a sanitation worker found the dismembered body around 12:30 p.m. before dumping a compactor container at the landfill. The container had been picked up from Cedar Creek Rd. compactor site.
Bartow County Sheriff's Office and the GBI were able to recover all of the body parts from the same container.
The cause of death is still under investigation.
