(Atlanta Business Chronicle) -- Developers confirmed on Tuesday their plan to build a more than 700-acre entertainment attraction in Bartow County anchored by a "Hunger Games" inspired theme park.
The project is the first of its kind in the United States.
Lions Gate Entertainment began early talks to develop a theme park based on the wildly successful "Hunger Games" franchise back in October.
A 700-acre property just west of I-75 in Emerson has emerged as a possible site for the attraction, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. The property is near the LakePoint Sporting Community and would also be close to a technology-focused theme park announced in March.
"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" and "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt 1 & 2" were filmed throughout the Atlanta metro. Producers used sites in LaGrange, Lithia Springs, Newnan, Atlanta, Griffin, Warm Springs, Dahlonega, Jonesboro and Thomaston.
