BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — Three people were found shot to death in Bartow County late Saturday afternoon in what investigators are calling a double murder-suicide.
The county coroner's office said Sunday morning they are still withholding the names of the three people who were killed.
At about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Bartow deputies responded to a home in Cartersville on Gray Road for a shots fired call. When they arrived, they found three people dead from gunshot wounds.
Crime scene detectives were able to determine that it was a targeted shooting that became a murder-suicide.
Neighbor William McAbee described to 11Alive News what he heard in the moments before police arrived.
"We were outside, and I heard multiple gunshots -- about 20 of them. It was really loud, honesty. And then, I heard a bunch of tires squealing," he said. "We went to go leave -- me and my girlfriend -- we were going up by the golf course and we saw a bunch of patrol cars shooting by."
As of right now, they have not stated a motive for the incident or indicated a relationship between the three people involved.
