Friday is National Doughnut Day! It's a time to appreciate the tasty, doughy, fried, frosted treats in all their glory, and even better, to get them for free!
It seems these days nearly every food and drink has a day dedicated to it, but doughnuts have had their own holiday for nearly 80 years.
The Chicago Salvation Army established National Doughnut Day in 1938 to honor the women who served the snacks to soldiers during WWI.
Here's a list of a few shops around Atlanta that will be serving up freebies to celebrate:
At Krispy Kreme, you can get any donut of your choice for free on Friday, no purchase necessary. Be warned though, in previous years the doughnut shop has had notoriously long lines every year.
The coffee and doughnut chain is giving away one free doughnut of your choice with the purchase of any beverage. The deal is valid all day, while supplies last.
We will be celebrating all day (til we run out) by giving away a free mini birthday cake doughnut (with purchase).
Come out to Sugar Hill Amphitheater for a FREE concert and grab some food from the delicious trucks including us! Giving a free plain donut with EVERY purchase!
