Dano, one of Johns Creek's first police K-9 officers, dies

The longtime K-9 officer retired in 2016

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Johns Creek Police is honoring a K-9 officer they described as "a true warrior" and "an ultimate sheepdog" after learning of his death on Sunday.

In a memorial social media post, Dano was described as one of the original K-9 officers with the department and that he entered service in April 2009 alongside his partner, Sgt. Zebley.  The K-9 officer retired in 2016.

"He for sure has crossed that rainbow bridge and [been] welcomed to Valhalla," Johns Creek Police posted in their tribute.

They ended their note by thanking the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and their K-9 units for Dano's escort and posting the words of the poem, "Guardians of The Night."
