FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A murder suspect was released from jail, but according to the Clayton County sheriff, he should not have been. He was arrested later Tuesday night.
In November last year, Fulton County murder suspect, Kaiser Ulrick Suggs, was released from jail in Clayton County. He was detained on aggravated assault charges in that county that were dismissed after prosecutors couldn't find victims in the case, court records show.
Once the charges in Clayton County were dismissed, he should have been returned to Fulton County, the sheriff's office said. Instead, he was at large but as of Tuesday night was arrested again, according to Fulton County authorities.
The Fulton County indictment reveals Suggs, along with other suspects, had been accused of felony murder connected to a January 2021 home invasion in Union City. Suggs and his co-defendants were indicted later in September 2021, records show.
Now two Clayton County employees are on leave as officials work to learn how this happened.
"The two employees who are responsible for this threat to public safety are now on administrative leave and my Internal Affairs unit are investigating how this unacceptable action occurred," Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen said in a statement.
