KENNESAW, Ga. — The wanted gunman suspected in the shooting that killed a Kennesaw State University student is in custody, records show.
Kashman Thomas, 22, was arrested Tuesday after turning himself over to police at the Cobb County Jail, according to police.
It's all in connection to the shooting death of KSU freshman Oluwafemi "Femi" Oyerinde.
Police responded to an apartment complex on Hidden Forest Court, near the school's campus, after getting reports of a shooting that morning. When they got there around 11:40 a.m., they found the 18-year-old dead. Police said he had been shot in the back. Two other 18-year-olds had also been shot and had to be rushed to the hospital.
According to police, the shooting was the result of an argument between the two sides, who were neighbors, according to police. Investigators are still trying to confirm the exact motive, but family said the shooter was angry that Femi and his friends were playing loud music.
“Somebody shot him just because of loud music?" his aunt Meg Edwards previously told 11Alive. "That is wrong. That is wrong.”
The teen, who was a 2019 graduate of Archer High School, had just started classes as a freshman at KSU, according to family, and wanted to major in mechanical engineering and someday become a pilot.
The family of the 18-year-old described him as a person who always embraced his loved ones and friends whenever he saw them.

"He helped everybody that he knew. He was just - he was the person everybody wanted to be and everyone wanted to know," family described.
