ATLANTA — A MARTA train derailed after one set of train wheels on one truck lost contact with the rail early Wednesday morning, the transit service said.
It added that rail service has been suspended between Georgia State and Candler Park stations. Bus shuttle service is being provided between stations, including at King Memorial and Inman Park as well.
MARTA had reported an "emergency" near the King Memorial station causing "extensive delays" on the blue and green lines, with four stations diverting to shuttle bus services around 7:30 a.m.
At least 16 passengers were on board and were safely moved to another train for transport to Candler Park Station, according to MARTA.
The @MARTAservice X account posted at 8:56 a.m. that, "Due to an emergency near King Memorial Station, bus shuttle service is provided at GA State, King Memorial, Inman Park and Candler Park."
Transit service commuters were directed to a link where they can download an $8 MARTAConnect Lyft credit.
