ATLANTA — The City of Atlanta will welcome King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands on Monday.
The purpose of the visit is to highlight the strong bilateral ties between the kingdom of the Netherlands and the U.S., and its economic relations with Georgia.
The royal pair will begin their visit by meeting with Gov. Brian Kemp at the Capitol and touring several sites throughout the city.
Their Majesties will visit the King Center and lay a wreath on the final resting place of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King. Then, they will visit the BeltLine's Eastside Trail with Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and discuss affordable housing, climate, health and urban mobility in Atlanta and the Netherlands.
The royal couple will also take a tour of Patchwerk Recording Studios, where they will learn about the cultural and economic impact of hip-hop in Atlanta.
They are also slated to visit the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to meet with researchers and scientists to discuss climate change and tour the agency's lab.
