Landlord showing home discovers dead body

A landlord showing a house to prospective renters discovered a dead man Monday, Atlanta police said.

ATLANTA -- A landlord showing a house to prospective renters discovered a dead man's body Monday, Atlanta police said.

According to Atlanta Police, the body was discovered at a home located at 666 Quaker Street around 11:30 a.m.

Salvatore DiMauro said he was going through the rooms when he made the disturbing find behind the house.

"[I was saying] this is the living room, this is the dining room, and as I looked to the window, the future tenant looked through the window. He said, 'There's somebody dead there,'" DiMauro said. "I thought he was kidding. I look over there, and I see this guy laying on the floor."

DiMauro said he noticed there was a lot of blood and that the man was dead. They then called 911.

An investigation is underway, but no other details have been released other than the house was vacant at the time of the homicide.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office identified the victim as 28-year-old Lamarr Thomas of Atlanta. He died of multiple gunshot wounds.

DiMauro said that he's never had any serious problems with the home or in the area before.

"I think this is a nice neighborhood," he said.

DiMauro said that the prospective tenants were looking to move out of their neighborhood because there'd been a shootout there recently.

Neighbor Linda Seabrooke said she heard two gunshots Sunday night around 11:30 p.m., but didn't see anything at the time. The next morning, she said she saw police outside the home next door.
