GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (WXIA) – On Thursday, the husband arrested years after his wife's death is expected to be in court.
The night before Matthew Leili is set to have a bond hearing, his daughters are breaking their silence for the first time – four years after their mother's death.
Nique Leili, 44, vanished in 2011. Weeks later, family and friends were devastated when they were the ones to find her body in a wooded area. The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death unclear.
Last month, investigators arrested Matthew Leili, based on computer evidence, saying Nique Leili was somehow asphyxiated.
On Wednesday evening, the couple's daughters cited "bad blood" with their mother's family, and defended their father.
"Honestly, we can't wait to face this family in court and call out their lies," Amanda Leili said. "They've done nothing but cause us pain and torment. Our day in court will come, and hopefully, my dad will be able to come home."
Matthew Leili's bond hearing is scheduled on Thursday at 1 p.m.
The lead detective in the case told 11Alive News on Wednesday that the case has since been turned over to the district attorney's office.
