LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Officials have identified the man found partially decomposed in a local apartment complex lake over the weekend.
The body of 34-year-old Derek Oxford was spotted on Saturday afternoon in the lake at Durant Sugarloaf Apartments on Marlowe Drive.
According to Gwinnett County Police, Oxford was reported missing by his girlfriend on Feb. 23.
She told police that when she came home from work on Feb. 16 and he was allegedly intoxicated, sitting on the front porch before going for a walk.
The distance between where he was last seen and where they found his body is just under two and a half miles.
Preliminary examination of Oxford showed no signs of obvious trauma or foul play, according to officials.
A cause of death has not yet been determined in this case.
