Lightning strike could be to blame for 2-story blaze in Atlanta neighborhood

Atlanta fire crews battled the house fire that was captured on video Tuesday afternoon.

ATLANTA — Flames ripped through an Edgewood home on Tuesday as storms rumbled through town. Now, fire investigators believe the storms may have played a role in the fire itself.

Crews from the Atlanta Fire Department were working to put out flames at a  house fire near the intersection of Hardee Street and Mayson Avenue in northeast Atlanta.

According to a tweet from the fire department, everyone inside the house made it out safely. The tweet indicates that the fire was believed to have been caused by a possible lightning strike on a nearby power pole.

Fire department video shows heavy flames coming from the upper story of the two-story home as firefighters work to push back the blaze.

No injuries have been reported.
