A Bibb County student was released from the hospital Thursday afternoon after being jumped by 6 to 12 students.
The mother of the 14-year-old Elliot Roseman told Bibb County deputies that her son has been having problems with some students at Ballard Hudson Middle School because he refused to join "the 10-12 gang," according to a sheriff's office incident report.
Bibb deputies were dispatched Wednesday just after 2 p.m. to an area nearby the school in reference to a large fight. As one of the deputies was arriving, they saw campus police officers tending to Roseman, the incident report states.
The child's mother, Stephanie Milton, was called to the scene and her son was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Milton says when she got to the scene, she spoke to campus police officer who says he took video of the fight. Stephanie Hartley, a spokeswoman for a Bibb County Schools, said that is false.
"He literally said that the way kids are set up these days, you never know who has a gun, so he didn't want to put himself in the middle of the situation, so he called for back up. My point is you are supposed to protect and serve, so why didn't you protect my child?," says Milton.
Hartley said the video shared with 13WMAZ was filmed by a student and posted on social media.
"No one has been charged for this. No one has been arrested for this. I just want justice for my son. He ended up in the hospital," says Milton.
She says her son has a fractured rib and some internal bleeding.
Deputy Linda Howard with the Bibb County Sherrif's office says that this case has been forwarded on to the Bibb County gang unit and they will continue with the investigation.
