Man faces murder charges in connection to his girlfriend's death, Gwinnett Police say

Alysia Scott was found dead by police at a home along Sheree Trail in Stone Mountain. Now, Gwinnett Police are investigating Scott's death as a homicide.

A man is in custody and faces murder charges in connection to his girlfriend's death at their home, the Gwinnett County Police Department said. 

Authorities investigated a "suspicious death" on Wednesday at the home along Sheree Trail in Stone Mountain. In an update on Friday, Gwinnett Police identified the woman who was found dead as 45-year-old Alysia Scott. 

Now, Gwinnett Police are investigating Scott's death as a homicide. 

Scott's boyfriend Kevin Matchen, 50, faces charges including felony murder, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies, criminal trespass and theft by taking, the police department said. 

Investigators said Scott and Matchen lived together at the home where the 45-year-old was found dead. No other details were released by detectives about Scott's death. 

Matchen was taken into custody by authorities on Thursday and booked into the Gwinnett County Jail.
