ATLANTA — A man was taken into custody after he allegedly stole vehicles and hopped into an airplane cockpit at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
It happened last Friday shortly before 3:30 a.m. According to a report from the Atlanta Police Department, an officer was dispatched to a call about a suspicious man.
Police said a Delta employee alerted a Department of Aviation (DOA) worker that someone came onto airport property and stole a Delta transportation vehicle. The employee then began following the man driving the vehicle, the police report stated.
The man went to the Southwest hangar, where he allegedly drove into it, got out of the truck and walked up the steps to an airplane. He then spoke to the Southwest employee that was inside the cockpit of the plane, according to the police report.
The man then ran out of the hangar and entered a second vehicle that was left running as the Delta employee and DOA worker continued to follow him. They confronted him and he was eventually stopped near the north cargo area, the police report stated.
Video from the officer's bodycam shows the man being taken into custody outside of a Delta truck. The man was taken to the Clayton County Jail.
