CONYERS, Ga. — After law enforcement officers first called a 58-year-old woman's death suspicious, they have now charged a man with her murder.
According to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, Alfred Jermain Arnold been charged with malice murder, arson-1st degree, aggravated assault and theft by taking (motor vehicle).
He sits in a Lowndes County jail and will have to be extradited to Rockdale County.
Loretta Goolsby was found dead in a home on Lester Road on April 12. Deputies said they received a call that day 1:09 p.m. about a missing person.
When they found Goolsby's body, they said the case appeared "suspicious and they were waiting on autopsy results. Details from that report have not been released.
Deputies said there is no known relation between Arnold and the victim.
