DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A man was seriously hurt after being rescued from a creek in DeKalb County early Thursday morning, according to fire officials.
It happened at a Doraville creek near Pleasantdale Road before 5 a.m. DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department said the water was about 6 feet deep, that the current pushed the man into the embankment, and that he was unable to hold on.
Fire officials said he was taken to a Duluth-Gwinnett hospital in critical condition but updated 11Alive that his condition had improved on the way to the hospital. The fire department added that the creek is near a homeless encampment.
