COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — A man died in a motorcycle crash while fleeing Coweta County deputies on Monday night, Georgia State Patrol said.
It happened a little before 6 p.m. on I-85. The Coweta County coroner identified him as a 21-year-old male, but said a full identity will not be released at this time as family has not been notified.
According to GSP, the man operating a blue and white Suzuki motorcycle was being pursued on I-85 South when he "struck the rear of a silver Toyota while traveling at a high rate of speed in an attempt to elude law enforcement."
He was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries.
GSP said I-85 was closed for an hour after the crash.
"The crash investigation is still ongoing," the agency said.
