MORGAN COUNTY, Ga. -- Morgan County authorities have charged a man in the death of a 9-month-old infant.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, authorities responded to a call of an unresponsive infant on Saturday. The child, who had reportedly fallen off of a couch, was transported to Morgan Memorial Hospital and then life-flighted to Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta for emergency treatment.
The child was taken off of life support on Sunday afternoon, sheriff's official said.
Authorities arrested 21-year-old Donald Lee, of Madison, Ga., who was reportedly responsible for caring for the child. He was originally charged with cruelty to children. Authorities now say they will seek to file felony murder charges against Lee.
Lee is being held at Morgan County Public Safety Center without bond.
