Man shot at Atlanta recording studio

Investigators searched for clues at a recording studio after a man was shot in the stomach early Thursday morning.

ATLANTA - Investigators searched for clues outside of a recording studio after a man was shot in the stomach early Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the area near The Castle Soul Asylum Studios located at 1676 Defoor Circle NW.

Capt. J.D. Patterson said five to six people were at the studio that was open for business around 1:15 a.m. The victim and witnesses told police at least three black males were in a small vehicle, possibly a Toyota Camry, when one of them got of the of car, pointed a gun at victim, took his bag, then shot him. The victim said he standing on the passenger side of a Ford Expedition in front of the building when it happened.

"Witnesses on the scene state that they were victimized in a drive-by shooting. We are deploying our K9 tracking dogs to thoroughly canvass the crime scene area and are following up on investigative leads at this point," Patterson said.

Soul Asylum Studios issued a statement saying that it was not a drive-by shooting, and that a videographer carrying camera gear was "victimized" as he walked to his vehicle. The victim was grazed by a bullet, the studio said.

Several shell casings were recovered. The victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition.

No suspect or vehicle description has been given.

The studio said that the gunmen never entered their property or its parking lot.
