COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- Three men were arrested after being caught transporting more than $3 million worth of cocaine through Cobb County.
The GBI's West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office received a tip about a tractor trailer containing a large amount of drugs. On June 25, agents conducted surveillance on the big rig, which was parked off Delk Road.
The agents spotted three men in and around the tractor trailer. The suspects were later identified as 39-year-old Ferrando Rodriguez of Gary, Ind.; 24-year-old Javier Leonardo Rodriguez-Buitrago of Dacula, Ga.; and 50-year-old Jesus Ruben Rosillo of McAllen, Texas.
Troopers eventually stopped the truck, and arrested Rodriguez and Rodriguez-Buitrago for marijuana possession. The GBI said agents interviewed the men and developed probable cause to search the tractor trailer. Inside the trailer, they found a hidden compartment containing 100 kilograms of suspected cocaine.
All three suspects were booked in the Cobb County Jail on charges of marijuana possession. Rodriguez and Rosillo were also charged with trafficking cocaine, while Rodriguez-Buitrago faces an additional charge of conspiracy to violate the Georgia Controlled Substances Act.
