MARIETTA, Ga. — Marietta Police are investigating a crash where two cars hit a pedestrian early Friday morning.
Officers were called to South Marietta Parkway west of Powers Ferry Road around 5:30 a.m. Police said the investigation revealed a 61-year-old man was crossing South Marietta Parkway when he was hit by a car, knocking him to the ground.
The man was walking outside of the designated crosswalk, according to police.
A second car came along and wasn't able to avoid hitting the pedestrian - striking the man for a second dime. An ambulance came to the scene and took the man to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Marietta Police said the victim's name hasn't been released yet, pending notification of the next of kin.
The police department's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program is still investigating the crash.
