MARIETTA, Ga. -- A Marietta man will spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted in his sixth felony case.

Calvin Bernard Hill, 36, was found guilty last week of armed robbery, theft, burglary and kidnapping in a February 2012 incident.

According to information presented in court, Hill held a man at gunpoint inside the victim's home, tied him up in a bathroom and stole from the house.

Jurors deliberated just two hours before convicting Hill. He had four prior felony convictions in Fulton County and one in Houston County. Last Thursday, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

"The state gives an opportunity for second chances, but we're here now on number six," Cobb County Assistant District Attorney Theresa Schiefer said in court.

Schiefer added the state offered the defendant a plea that would have resulted in a chance at parole, "but I guess Mr. Hill's pride got in the way."
