ATLANTA — A MARTA bus was left incinerated after a fire sparked when a tire blew out on I-20 on Monday morning, officials said.
It happened in the early morning hours and there were no passengers who had been on board the bus at the time of the blowout. The operator of the bus was not injured.
MARTA said in a statement that the articulated bus was on its way back to a garage from Southlake Mall. It happened along I-20 West past Wesley Chapel Rd.
"The operator first reported a tire blowout which then turned into a fire. Fire has been put out. There were no passengers on the bus and no injuries reported," MARTA said.
